Ethnic Voice New
Zealand (Inc)
Fosters collaborative
relationships between Ethnic communities and government agencies
through a collective voice, consultation, advocacy, advisory and
monitoring to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of members of
the Ethnic communities in New Zealand.

Ethnic
Voice New Zealand (EVNZ)
-
Is a
community organization established to provide a collective voice
for the Ethnic communities. This community engages all
participants and has a consultation process.

Has a
vision to foster collaborative relationships between the Ethnic
communities in New Zealand and the government agencies.
-
Has been
involved in a number of projects (e.g. hosting symposium on issues
concerning Asian social and wellbeing, meetings with government
officials regarding changes in immigration points system) with
over the past five years playing a active role in promoting the
community voice.

Informs
and involves the community through executive members' networks,
annual general meetings, attending and hosting public forums, an
email networks.

Is a
unique community organization because of the diversity, expertise
and credibility of individual members of the executive team which
includes health, social work, community, university academics and
researchers with an interest in all aspect of physical and mental
wellbeing issues (like employment, immigration and settlement,
mental health) of members of the ethnic communities and there is
no other group that performs this role.

Is
supportive of ethnic community initiatives and government's
strategic themes and will be promoting:

Involvement: We seek to help reduce barriers to
accessing services by ensuring a better informed community.

Wellness
and Responsibility: A well informed ethnic community
will promote wellness, develop responsibility for health and
wellbeing maintenance and dysfunction prevention

Community
Focus: Actively support the involvement of various
relevant ethnic community groups and/or agencies in service
planning and delivery.

Successful
Integration: As members of ethnic communities become
more empowered to take responsibility for their own health and
wellbeing, burden on government welfare and health system is
minimilised.

Voice New Zealand (EVNZ) is committed to working with ethnic
communities and government agencies to achieve its mission.

EVNZ important?

EVNZ has a
diverse range of members with knowledge of both social and health
sectors and are willing to commit their skills and expertise to
achieving the aims and objectives of the organization.

EVNZ is
interested in being involved in ALL community social and health
issues.

firmly established network of community organizations and
individuals with an interest in social and health issues.

EVNZ acts
as a vehicle for the community voice to be heard

EVNZ is
committed to fostering good communication between government
agencies and the community - a two way process.
Over the past
five years EVNZ has firmly established itself as a community driven
organization with a broad interest in local social and health issues.
There is no other group that fulfils this role with the expertise EVNZ
offers.
EVNZ has much
to offer to government agencies and the ethnic communities it serves.
